Recluse on a platform drowned in the fog, Krank feeds on the dreams of children to keep himself from growing old. One, a Mr. Muscle, searches for his brother kidnapped by the Cyclops on behalf of the hermit, along with Miette, a resourceful girl.

After the success of Delicatessen (1991), Caro & Jeunet were given carte blanche, the red carpet and the checkbooks wide open. And so was born The City of Lost Children, a bastard offspring of Lewis Carroll's tales melted into a nightmarish steampunk aesthetic. The French special effects studio Dubois produced an insane number of CGI shots for the time, in perfect symbiosis with one of the most spectacular artistic directions ever seen in a domestic production. We must not forget to add to the picture an unforgettable cast, a key element of this baroque symphony.
