The heat wave is suffocating Madrid a little more every day. After the suicide of his wife, the old man Manuel is taken in by his son and his companion, who is not exactly reassured. Manuel, like all of Madrid's senior citizens, seems to be losing his mind.

A little lost from sight these last years with our Asian, South American or even Scandinavian infidelities, the Spanish horror cinema remembers us with this particularly angry crescendo in the tension and in the atrocity. Paco Plaza's The Grandmother was only a warm-up: The Elderly walks the same sweaty streets, the same faded apartments, it shakes the same skeletons in the national closet, but all the levels are for the moment mounted to the maximum, sometimes even beyond. Let the miscreants who assured us, with their hands on their hips, that the golden age was over, swallow their arrogance: here comes the vermilion age.
