In the under-explored territory of the Mollywood cinema (productions from southern India shot in Malayalam), Lijo Jose Pellissery already has a solid career, full of powerful aesthetic realisations. Jallikattu is no exception, to say the least - the first seven minutes of the film are without any doubt some of the most breathtaking released this year. The film seems to go astray in its choral narrative, but regularly delivers hypnotic pieces of bravery. Expect a huge blast on the movie screen.
