Forty schoolmates wake up on an island, where they are "welcomed" by one of their former teachers. They were chosen by the Japanese government for the so-called Battle Royale event, after which only one of them will survive. May the battle begin!

Kinji Fukasaku ends his incredible career on his most insane and radical film. A pure High concept, never to be equalled by his successors. Even the embarrassing sequel of this movie, which was shot partly by the director and then by his son, will not be able to alter its aura. Be prepared: after seeing it on a movie screen, you will need at least a week to recover from Battle Royale.
