This is the first entry of the BumiLangit Cinematic Universe, the largest Indonesian comic book company, with over a thousand superheroes, including this Gundala created in 1969 by Harya Suraminata. The director Joko Anwar is one of PIFFF’s favourite. The social background of the movie ; its frenetic realisation ; and even in the mad combat scenes against patibular bad guys (including a Cecep Arif Rahman freshly arrived from John Wick Parabellum), Gundala arises as an absolute alternative to Marvel.
