A reporter in search of shocking stories receives a torture video that looks like a snuff film. Once the location is identified, she and her team go there. This is obviously a very bad idea, except for those who enjoy atrocious suffering.

Trained at the Nikkatsu and at the pinku eiga school, Toshiharu Ikeda makes a name for himself with this horror film made on weekends, at a frenetic pace, in a disturbing harmony between amateurism and professionalism. Not without irony, the director hates the genre so much that he will never see his film again once it is finished. Good for him: Evil Dead Trap remains to this day a traumatic gore slasher, which the young James Wan probably saw much too young, notebook and pen in hand. It oozes an indefinable, all-consuming malaise, the direction and editing vibrate with an art of sharp sadism behind which will trot out the whole future wave of torture porn.
