PIFFF 2015 : Unveiling...partly...the event !

Posted on 30/09/15

Is it crystal clear for everyone yet ? The PIFFF will celebrate this year it's fifth year of crazy being and takes possession of the Grand Rex movie theatre for the event (you may notice the monkey on this year's poster !). Is it written down on your diary ? The dates ? November 17th to 22nd. Got it ? OK, now let's get to the point. THE FILMS !

A few previews: Deathgasm by Jason Lei Howden (New Zealand), a hilarious metal gore comedy impressive for its soundtrack and the amount of blood spattered ; The Final Girls by Todd Strauss- Schulson (USA), a smart new version of the neo-slasher genre ; Curtain de Jaron Henrie-McCrea (USA), or how would you actually be scared of a... shower curtain ; the nightmarish (!) Der Nachtmahr by Akiz (Germany), portraying how teenage paranoia can become monstruous ; Some Kind of Hate by Adam Egypt Mortimer (USA), in which school bullying is at its peak ; morbid and poetic Bridgend by Jeppe Rønde (Denmark), its youth afflicted by a « suicide curse » ; the magnificent Evolution by Lucile Hadzihalilovic (France), a starnge and traumatic science fiction fable ; and also the documentary films Creature Designers - The Frankenstein Complex by Gilles Penso and Alexandre Poncet and The 1000 Eyes of Dr. Maddin by Yves Montmayeur (France), two fantastic immersions into the universe of genius and...crazy creators.

The PIFFF has also planned an all-night-long event for night owl film-lovers. This year will highlight Japanese animation: The Japanimation Night, due on saturday night of November the 21st, from 10PM until the wake of dawn. On the programme includes: French preview of Mamoru Hosoda's latest artwork, The Boy and the Beast ; the unbelievably psychedelic Mind Game by Masaaki Yuasa ; the very first screen release of Short Peace, a sketch film by Katsuhiro Ôtomo, Hiroaki Andô, Hajime Katoki and Shûhei Morita ; and the famous Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade by Hiroyuki Okiura. Prepare for many more surprises during the night, including unreleased and spectacular animation short movies !

And because it's our birthday, we will party. The opening ceremony of tuesday, November 17th, will be followed by a concert at the Rex Club. An after-party you don't want to miss for anything.

See you soon !
